Owner Experience
I grew up in the very rural hill town of Newark, Vermont. As a child, I was blessed to have endless miles of wilderness to roam. Born the son of a carpenter and teacher, I worked in construction whenever possible, starting at a 12.
In year 2000, at age 18, I struck out for Alaska and picked up a job for a contractor who ultimately failed to maintain a client's confidence while building a custom mother-in-law apartment with a garage. Through all that, I managed to maintain the client's confidence and ultimately completed the project for them. I completed several other smaller projects in Alaska around that time too.
In 2003 I returned to Vermont with my wife, Stacie, where we resided for the following 9 years. During this time we operated our successful custom building business, "Deep Woods Carpentry". We designed and built several custom homes, additions, and did many smaller projects through those years.
In 2012, Stacie and I decided to return to Alaska to raise our family. I immediately took a job as a framer with one of the Mat-Su Valley's most well-known custom home builders. Within the first year with the company, I moved into an office managerial position and soon thereafter was given the title "Draftsman/Project Manager". Over the next 7 years I was a key player in the company's success and growth. While working there I drafted plans and contract packets, project managed, and processed warranty claims. I worked directly with the clients throughout their home building process, maintaining their trust and confidence without fail. I project managed 39 custom home builds of which 24 I personally drafted, all here in the Mat-Su Valley. Additionally, I helped advance the company in many ways. I amplified their robust project management software, created and maintained critical spreadsheets and templates, implemented a company-wide uniform filing structure, established consistent computer systems configurations, and acted as the maintenance department, among other tasks. The company employees and I grew together as a team, and I am forever thankful for the opportunity and experience working with them provided.
